A bowling alley keeps shoes in rows of cubbyholes. There are 9 rows of cubbyholes, with 20 cubbyholes in each row. If there are a pair of shoes in every cubbyhole, how many pairs of shoes are there?

For this problem, you need to multiply 9 by 20. When I did that calculation I got 180 shoes. So there are 180 pairs of shoes.
