How would you place into perspective Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase and his vision of Republican Simplicity. Do they make sense or are they at odds?

They do make sense because Jefferson wanted to expand the United States and purchasing Louisiana would make America bigger and stronger. Although it was expensive the Louisiana purchase made the United States a more powerful country. Jefferson as a president of the United States wanted to make America the best the best nation on earth. He thought that if he purchased Louisiana from Spain the United States would be more wealthy and rich.
