A substance, to be classified as organic, must contain at least a carbon atom bound to a hydrogen atom, although, a few molecules that do not contain such element may, sometimes, according to the IUPAC Blue Book, for example, be considered organic substances. Examples of such substances may be urea and oxalic acid.
