what was the role of the ohio river valley in the growing conflict between the french, native americans and british in the mid 1700s

The colonists idea of expansion was important to make their land a bigger area. However when the French settled in the Ohio river valley it stopped expansion of Britain which angered them and caused conflict. The British asked nicely for them to move out but the French were not intimidated.
