In your opinion, why might a person with a noncommunicable disease like diabetes be more accepted in social settings than a person with HIV?

Sample Response: Most people are aware that diabetes is not a contagious disease, so people are more accepting of it. With HIV, many people still have misconceptions about how the virus is spread, leading them to discriminate against those with HIV.

People might accept people because of the fact that it is not contagious. HIV is a sexually transmitted disease so if someone with HIV have sexual intercourse with someone else they might get it. Its kind of the same thing with aids. Kind of off subject but a good example, there was this movie about a little boy who got aids and he was basically shunned from his community because of the fact he had aids. It is not contagious like cold but if you share needles (i.e drugs) of have sex, you may catch the disease...hope this helps. good luck! :))
