Geography is the scientific study of spatial relationships and patterns in both human and physical worlds and how those patterns affect each other. Geography incorporates ideas from the social sciences and the natural sciences; from ecosystems to computer science, from digging up soil cores to interviewing immigrants. This broad focus allows students to pursue diverse interests within the field.

Geography would be helpful in planning a community because when you start building something for a whole society, it need to be accessible and nicely placed. Geography could take part in that because you could use maps and use local sights to improve the way your community looks and the vibes it gives off. Geography can also take a big role in helping plan where every single item should be correctly placed.
