Two basic needs categories:

1. Lower-Order needs- this includes safety, physiological requirements.

2. Higher-Order needs- under this category are belongingness, affiliation, accomplishments, esteem, self-actualization, influence (power).

The lower-order needs must be met for higher-order needs to have a long lasting effect on satisfaction. Once lower-order needs are satisfied, it's difficult for managers to predict which higher-order needs will motivate behavior. (TRUE)
