Lucretia Mott was born in Nantucket, Massachusetts. She was a women rights activist, and religious reformer. Her parents were Quacker peasants. Mott was against slavery and also advocated not buying the products of slave labor. It prompted her husband to leave the cotton trade. She was a supporter of William Lloyd Garrison and his American Anti Slavery Society. She and her husband attended the World Anti Slavery Convention in London in 1840. She was wholeheartedly dedicated to women's rights and also published "Discourse on women."
