If you just type that exact equation into a calculator it gives you the same answer as well

Answer:

You get -11.9 from -6.7+(-5.2) because you are adding 2 negative numbers. Just forget the negative signs are there when your adding negatives. 6.7 + 5.2 = 11.9 and then just add the negative in front and that's how you get your answer -11.9
