Fort Benning is the army base in Georgia, near Columbus, existing since the beginning of the century. It was opened during World War I as the training base for the infantry.

Almost 1 million dollars were invested in the creation of the Infantry School at the time. With the outbreak of World War II, the base was expended and used for training parachute infantry. Fort Benning served as the Home of the Infantry and in 2005. it was also proclaimed to be the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
