As a general rule, larger animals requires more food and nutrients, due to their size and weight.

Let me show you an example,
Let us now compare an ant and a human
Ant: Tiny in size and is very light
Human- Bigger in size and heavier.
In order to survive, we humans eat a lot to receive more nutrients. Thus, larger animals requires more food and nutrients

Hope this helps :))

Larger animals usually require more energy, as there mass is higher and they need more nutrients to regulate their body. This leads to the amount of food intake by them, which is usually higher than other smaller animals.
