The 1800 election was one of the strangest elections that ever happened in the United States, for some reason both republican candidates ended up tied as vice presidents in the electoral college so the election had to go to the house to be determined by the representatives, HAmilton would sent letters to the representatives to vote for Jefferson since he was thought to be the lesser of two evils, in the end Jefferson would won it and with that it would be the first peaceful transition of powers in the history of the United States.
