The treatment of hypocalcemia depends on the cause ,the severity and the presence of symptoms.Hypocalcemia generally results from another disease process. Most hypocalcemic emergencies are mild and require only supportive treatment and other laboratory evaluation. In this case the nurse will be looking for severe hypocalcemic symptoms like seizures, tetany, refractory hypotensionn and arrythmias. And other laboratory evaluation tests to find whether hypocalcemia is due to some other systemic problem.
