The fall of the Zhou dynasty began a period referred to as the Warring States period. The Warring states period consisted of essentially seven states engaging in war with each other. The Zhou Dynasty lasted longer than any other Chinese dynasty, but the power of the dynasty lasted for a shorter period of time than their reign.
