Proactive means to take control of a situation. So to be proactive about your hereditary health risks means to look into what hereditary health risks you might have by asking family members and then getting routine check ups those disorders/illnesses. For example, if several of your family members have had colon cancer then you might want routine colonoscopies performed because you have a much higher chance of developing the same disorders/illnesses as family members.
