Without enzymes, what would happen to the rate of chemical reactions?

Enzymes speed up reactions that would otherwise take place but at a much slower rate. So essentially, these reactions within the body would still occur but would take place so slowly that it probably wouldn't be sufficient to sustain life

Enzymes are catalysts, which means that they make chemical reactions go faster, but are not changed by the reaction,
