Applying what we as the reader know about Odysseus, as he changed for the better over the course of his journey and showing us the recurring theme "true strength is knowing when not to act", a perfect example is when Odysseus was going into the pub and came face to face with one of his wife's suitors. Instead of revealing himself, he chose to make a rational decision and it worked out for him.

At first, Odysseus acts without thinking about consequences. He waits around out of curiosity to see the Cyclops and then taunts him, getting himself in trouble. Later, he learns to control himself by waiting for the perfect moment to seek revenge on the suitors. Sometimes it is harder and takes more strength to wait than to act.
