"Any stable habitat where biotic and abiotic factors interact to create new life that sustains itself is call an ecosystem."

An ecosystem is described by the interaction between living organisms (biotic factors) in a given area, interacting with others, and non-living aspects (abiotic factors) of the environment where they are in. When all of this is in harmony to sustaining itself it is an ecosystem.
