Antigone is a tragic character cursed by a family tragedy that will be passed on to every member. Her line has perished, therefore so will she. She cannot escape her destiny and in that sense she provokes pity in the readers.

As Antigone continues speaking and describing her destiny, the audience already knows that she is going to die and that she cannot avoid it. Moreover, she describes her death as the most horrible event. By learning this, the audience can feel bad about Antigone. Therefore, the mood that is created for the audience through the lines is pity.
