President S. Truman was the 33rd President of United States and he was in office from April 12, 1945 to January 20, 1953.
He moved to bring the problem of racial discrimination to the nation's attention in 1946 by taking the appointment of President's Commission on Civil Rights, the reason behind his moving is the racial discrimination during world war II against the military personnel and also due to the Nazi racial atrocities.
