Explain how the amount of direct sunlight hitting a location near the equator would be different than a location near to one of the poles

The amount of sunlight hitting an area near the equator would be more direct and hotter in temperature, rather than hitting the poles. Since the sun hits the most direct at the equator, the poles will not get as much sunlight because they are much farther away from the equator.
