For sediment to be transformed into rock, what processes must take place?

A. weathering and erosion
B. melting and spreading
C. crystallization and solidification
D. compaction and cementation

The best answer is either A or D cause you do need weathering and erosion and both of them take place first...but in D that's another process for a sedimentary rock to be transformed.

The answer is D) because the sediment must compact over a large period of time to the point it cements.
