the answer would be D, For 4 reasons, Reason 1, because when doing an absolute absolute value expression you have the symbol for absolute value,| | . Reason 2, because absolute values CAN NOT be negative unless there is a negative number/symbol outside the absolute value expression, which makes it impossible for C to be an answer. Reason 3, the question is "What is the proper expression for the absolute value of 3?" so B could not be the answer because that is 32 not 3. Reason 4, the question is asking for the absolute value expression not the absolute value answer.

D.) |3|

Absolute value always puts the number into a barrier. The barrier means the negative sign doesn't matter because the number inside absolute value is always positive.
