Why did the French gain more Indian allies than the English

During the French and Indian War, the British were mainly helped by the Iroquois Indians. More Indians allied with the French, however, because although the French also wanted power over Indian territories, they were more respectful of the Indian Tribes' rights to independence. This is partially because the English were most interested in land and colonization, while the French were more interested in fur trades with the Native Americans.
