A tree is planted in a meadow. after 20 years it has grown into a big tree, weighing 250kg more than it was planted.

where does the extra 250kg come from?

There are many factors that may contribute to the tree's weight gain, for example soil, air, sunlight, water and minerals in the soil. an example is as plants need to photosynthesis to make food and they also produce. glucose and oxygen in the process and the mass probably increased due to the storage of the products made.
