A square measures eight meters on each side. If each side was shortened by 1/4 of its original length, the perimeter of the new square will be ___and its area will be__ square meters

2 meters is one fourth of 8 meters so you take away two from each side and that gives each side of the square 6 meters in length. You multiply length times width to get the area which is 36 and the perimeter is 24. I hope this helps!
