$815 - $85 = $730

$730 / 2 = $365

cost of washer = $365
cost of dryer = $365 + $85 = $450

w + d = 815
w = d - 85

d - 85 + d = 815
2d - 85 = 815
2d = 815 + 85
2d = 900
d = 900/2
d = 450 <== dryer

w = d - 85
w = 450 - 85
w = 365 .....washer
