Fulfillment decreases after a person reaches satisfaction. This is related to the idea of marginal utility and how, after a certain level, the marginal utility decreases to the point where a net negative can be attained by adding additional units of a certain resource (in this case, money spent). A person could actually become less happy by spending additional money in comparison to spending no additional funds.
