ANTIDURETIC HORMONE [ADH] enables the body to conserve water by inhibiting urine production when fluid levels are low.
The hypothalamus is the one that monitors the amount of water in the body. When the water level is low, the hypothalamus produces ADH which is released by the posterior pituitary, this hormone acts by enabling the kidney to retain water.
