The differences in the economic development of the mid-Atlantic, New England, and Southern colonies is mainly because of the geographic conditions there which is rocky soil, coastal ports towns on the Atlantic Ocean, lots of rivers, bays and wetlands as well as large areas of farming land with climates that are cold temperatures, long winters, mild weather and long growing season.
