The length of a rectangle is 5cm longer than twice the length of the width. If the perimeter is 88 centimeters, what is the width?

L = length
W = width
P = perimeter

Equations:
L = 2W + 5
2L + 2W = P
P = 88

Solve using the equations above:

2(2W + 5) + 2W = 88
4W+ 10 + 2W = 88
6W + 10 = 88
6W = 78
w=16

the width is 16 centimeters
