Tony suffers from a disease in which myelin is progressively lost. Tony's axons will increasingly lack insulation. The myelin is a protective barrier that would surround the axons. Its primary function is to insulate and protect the axons and also increase the effectivity of transmission of the impulses. The decrease in the amount of such would decrease protection, insulation and the enhancement of transmission.
