In the early seventeenth century the Puritans had a strong belief that the Church of England has been corrupted, and is no longer the true representative of Lord. They wanted the Church to leave many of the rituals and features which Catholics used to observe. Puritans strongly suggested that instead of observing the Catholic rituals they should emphasize on a personal relation with God.
