-12 =
(multiply 4 with 2x and -10) 9x
+
8x- 40
-12 =
(add like terms) -->
9x+8x
= 17x -40-12 =
(do the math) 17x
-40-12
---> -40 - 12 = -52 =
(divide 17 on both sides to get x alone) 17x - 52
----- ---- =
x= -52/17 = -3.0588= -3.1
