In antagonistic, or subtractive combination of drugs, the effects of one drug cancel or diminish the effects of another.
The diminish of the effects could happen because of these reasons:
- One drug provides an opposite effect in our body that negate all effects of the other drugs
or
- One drugs provide stronger effects compared to the other drugs, which will hide/cover the effects of another drugs
