A farmer wants to plant an apple orchard. His design consists of 10 rows of trees, where each row is 29.79 feet long. When he gets to the nursery, the sales clerk tells him that each tree has to be planted 6 feet apart. Use estimation to calculate the number of trees required for this project.

First divide 29.79 feet by 6

(29.79)/(6) = 4.97
But since you can't plant only a fraction of a tree, you can plant a maximum of 4 trees per row.
Now there are ten rows so...
10×4 = 40
You can plant 40 trees at the maximum.
