Perception is a very subjective interpretation of information received from the sense organs. It is the interpretation, organization and identification of the sensory information  that is sent to the brain to represent and to understand the information that is presented. It is done in two processes. First, processing of the sensory input where low level information is transformed to a higher level information like extracting shapes for recognition. Second, processing that is connected to a person's knowledge and mechanisms that are influenced by perception. Perception is largely dependent on the complex functions present in the nervous system. All of the perception goes through the nervous system.
