William buys a basket of lemons on sale for $11 before tax. The sales tax is 15%. What is the total price William pays for the basket of lemons?

Compute the tax then add it to the original amount.

Convert the percent into a decimal by moving the % sign two places to the left and making the % sign into a decimal point.

15% = 0.15

0.15 * 11 = 1.65

Now add it back to the original amount.

11 + 1.65 = 12.65

So, $12.65 is the answer.
