Joseph Nicéphore Niépce developed heliography, a permanent photographic process in 1822. To produce photo Niépce dissolved bitumen in oil of lavender and applied a coating over a polished plate( glass, brass). He entered the plate into a camera obscura and put it near a window for several days to get exposure to sunlight so that the plate bore an impression of buildings, trees and courtyard outside.
