Bioaccumulation is the process of heavy metals being stored in animal tissues. Not only due heavy metals build up in animal tissues but pesticides and other toxins as well. Bioaccumulation is basically the physiological effect of animals absorbing substances at a faster rate than which the substance can be removed from the body by either catabolism or excretion.
