In order for chicken eggs to hatch, it is vital that they are kept at a specific temperature. Usually chickens lay on their eggs to keep them at this temperature. However, a heat lamp is also commonly used as an alternative. It keeps the eggs at a consistent temperature which will allow them to hatch in the future.
