Eutrophication is a pollution problem in which water (lakes, ponds, and rivers) receive excess nutrients. These nutrients stimulate excessive growth of algae, and as a result of this bacteria. The pollutants associated with eutrophication are nitrogen and phosphorous. These both nutrients lead to growth of algae.
