Electronic cardiac (ECG) monitoring is the preferred method for assessing heart rate during chest compressions nrp. The ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The other technology is PPG(Photo Plethysmography.) ECG is preferred, because it is able to capture more comprehensive signals of overall heart performance (heart rate and heart rate variability).
