The shaded area is the area of the rectangle minus the area of the hemisphere.

A=(6*3)-(π3^2)/2

A=18-9π/2

A=18-4.5π, and if we approximate π≈3.14

A=18-4.5(3.14)

A=18-14.13

A=3.87 cm^2
