Perimeter of a Rectangle: 2L + 2W or 2(L + W)
Perimeter: 88 (Given)
Length: Width - 14 (Given)
Width: x
88 = 2(x - 14) + 2(x)
88 = 2x - 28 + 2x
88 = 4x - 28
88 + 28 = 4x - 28 + 28
116 = 4x
116/4 = 4x/4
29 = x
We know:
Width = 29 meters
Length = 29 - 14 = 15 meters
Check:
88 = 2(29 + 15)
88 = 88
