Hello.

The genre of fiction notable in Kafka's The Metamorphosis is surrealism. It presents the story of Gregor, a travelling clerk, that wakes up to find his body was turned into an enormous insect - therefore establishing a clearly surrealistic characteristic.

Hope I helped.

It is both realistic AND surrealistic.

It is realistic because the story first speaks about Gregory and his employment, and life with his family.

It is surrealistic because it is imagination...because he turns into a roach.
