If point M is the midpoint of segment QR then QM = MR

16 + x = 2(x+2)
16 + x = 2x + 4
16 - 4 = 2x - x
12 = x

If x = 12 then
QR = 2*QM = 2(16+x) = 2*(16+12) = 2 * 28 = 56
