The Piedmont is a geographic region of the East of the United States. It is located between the Appalachians and the coastal valleys of the Atlantic, being about 950 km long and extending between the Hudson River and Central Alabama. It is a relatively low plateau, crossed by many rivers, which is a fertile agricultural region.
