Before the lender found out she was black, she was offered a loan almost immediately.

However, when the lender learned that she was in fact black, things took a bad turn. First, higher terms of the loan were imposed on her. Second, she was told the loan was a risk due to declining prices in the neighborhood. Third, she was suddenly asked to pay more and offered a less attractive loan.
