Systolic is the blood pressure measurement of the pressure wave (It's not actually the force of the heart pumping), during a contraction, or when blood is being pumped out of the ventricles. As the heart relaxes between contractions and fills with blood the resulting pressure wave is recorded as Diastolic. In most normal cases the systolic should be much higher the diastolic pressure.
